Moosicorn Ranch is an experiment at sustainable living. Our first project is our home: The Barn.

The barn is dried in and has final grading around it. The lower level is a workshop while the upstairs is a two bedroom loft-style apartment.

On the exterior we used HardiPlank siding, glulam beams instead of pressure treated, a functioning cupola and an unpainted metal room. Solar panels are planned for 2010 after we install septic. Wind power is planned for 2011.

The interior will feature a variety of environmentally friendly products including Forbo Marmolium, Ceasarstone, Zero VOC stains and paint, Healthier choice carpet pad, energy efficient windows and doors, ductless AC, efficient and comfortable radiant heat flooring. We’ve chosen to run everything with electricity because we will be powered by solar and wind energy.

Handsome Cardboard Shoebox

The shoes were wrapped in the tissue paper, inside the canvas bag, and the bag was inside the box. Or maybe the tissue paper was around the canvas bag. If I hadn’t already known that Nike bought Converse a couple of years back, I’d be thinking so now.

At least this is all recyclable. Otherwise I’d be buying Product (GREEN) Converse sneakers in a couple of years.

These were an older (RED) design so I got them for under fifty bucks. It looks like the latest C(R) models are designed by fancy New Yorkers and cost twice as much. Clearly Converse has taken some tips from Dell.

Bono, I bought my copy of Achtung Baby at a used-CD store, and went to the only U2 concert I’ve ever seen free [my then-girl got tickets for donating blood to the Red Cross, amazingly enough], so consider this a token of my appreciation for writing "Ultraviolet [Light My Way]."

Small Dark Green Jewlery Boxes

It’s the season for all things green with St. Patrick’s day and Spring right around the corner.

These green jewelry boxes are used by our friends at The Black Sheep in Pittsford, NY. They carry the finest childrens clothing and accessories for your little ones. If you’re ever in Rochester, stop by to check them out.
